No. 1 Tennessee (15-1, 2-1 SEC) defeated Texas (11-5, 0-3 SEC), 74-70, on Saturday at Moody Center in Austin, Texas.

Rankings reflect the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.

Four Vols scored 10-plus points against Texas: Zakai Zeigler (16), Darlinstone Dubar (12), Jordan Gainey (12) and Chaz Lanier 10.

Tennessee converted 25-of-56 field goal attempts, 10-of-23 three-point attempts and 14-of-20 free throw attempts. The Vols out-rebounded Texas, 41-27.

Texas guard Tre Johnson led all scorers with 26 points.

Zeigler led the Vols in assists (8), while Felix Opara was Tennessee’s leading rebounder (9).

Tennessee will next play on Jan. 15 against Georgia at Food City Center. Tipoff between the Vols and Bulldogs is slated for 8 p.m. EST (SEC Network).
