Pamela Anderson is weighing in after missing out on an Oscar nomination.

The actress, 57, received acclaim for her performance in The Last Showgirl. Still, she was absent from the Best Actress in a Leading Role category when nominations for the 97th Academy Awards were announced on Thursday, January 23.

According to Anderson, the snub wasn’t much of a surprise.

“Oh my gosh, it’s not something I ever expected. Doing the work is the win,” she told Elle.com after the nominations were announced Thursday. “That’s what I like to do, and I think we can lose sight of that sometimes in this whole crazy awards season, but it’s nice to be recognized, and it’s all a bonus.”

Despite missing out on an Oscar nod, Anderson was recognized with nominations for The Last Showgirl at the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

“I couldn’t imagine [it] anyway. I’m happy for the SAG nomination, that’s [voted on by] your peers. That’s really cool,” Anderson told the outlet.

The nominees for Best Actress in a Leading Role include Cynthia Erivo for Wicked, Karla Sofía Gascón for Emilia Pérez, Anora star Mikey Madson, Demi Moore for The Substance and Fernanda Torres, who starred in I’m Still Here.

Baywatch icon Anderson has received career-best reviews for her role as Shelly, an aging Las Vegas showgirl, in the Gia Coppola-directed movie.

In October 2024, the actress exclusively told Us Weekly that she considered the movie the true beginning of her acting career.

“This is the beginning of my career,” Anderson told Us at the 2024 Glamour Women of the Year Awards. “I have a lot to do yet.”

“I wish I would have started my career a little bit sooner — gotten some movie roles sooner,” she continued, referring to her Golden Globe-nominated role. “But it was worth the wait.”

Anderson spoke candidly about the evolution of her career earlier in October after receiving the Golden Eye Award at the Zurich Film Festival.

“I never thought I would be on stage, receiving an award like that,” she told Variety at the time. “I just want to keep working. I am excited to do more.”

Anderson made her big-screen debut in Snapdragon in 1993. She appeared in other films over the years, including the 2017 Baywatch movie, a reboot of the show of the same name in which she starred as C.J. Parker from 1992 to 1997.
