Mahomes with another record.

The Chiefs have reworked star quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ contract to make him the first NFL player to sign a deal valued at over half a billion dollars, ESPN reported.

Mahomes contract is now worth $504.75 million, with the new money on the deal valued at $239.05 million. Two more years were added to the pact that runs from 2026 through 2033.

The deal averages $64 million per year, an NFL record.

Four years of the three-time Super Bowl champion’s contract are guaranteed at signing, and contract mechanisms can reportedly make all $504.75 million guaranteed.

Mahomes’ original contract, which reset the quarterback market when it was signed in 2020, was valued at $450 million over 10 years.

Kansas City has reset the quarterback market three times in the last six years and committed $689.05 million in new money to Mahomes.

This is the sixth time the Chiefs have reworked Mahomes deal.

“Over the last decade Patrick has become one of the most iconic, beloved sports figures of all time,” Chiefs chair and CEO Clark Hunt said. “He has helped lead our franchise to five Super Bowl appearances and three championships; he has been instrumental in shaping the Chiefs brand and putting Kansas City on the world stage; and on top of it all he has been an outstanding role model in the community.

“Patrick is a generational talent and an elite human being, and I’m so excited he will continue to lead our team into the future.”

Mahomes is entering his 10th season with the Chiefs, boasting 35,939 yards, 267 touchdowns and a 100.8 QB rating.

The quarterback has repaid the franchise for believing in him by delivering three Super Bowl wins since 2020, most recently in Super Bowl 58 in 2024.

Mahomes is recovering from season-ending ACL and LCL tears in December, but the Chiefs remain optimistic he will be ready for Week 1 against the Broncos.
