Just win, baby!
That’s what Giants fans were certainly hoping for from the Raiders in Monday night’s game against the Falcons.
Las Vegas came close, having two shots at the end zone in the final seconds, but the Raiders fell short, losing 15-9 to the Falcons and remaining ahead of the Giants in the race for the No. 1 pick in the draft.
The Giants had temporarily taken over the No. 1 spot after they lost to the Ravens in decisive fashion on Sunday, but Vegas moves back ahead by becoming the second team to lose 12 games this season.
The Raiders gave their fans a bit of a scare when they mounted a late-game comeback — one fan held a sign that read “Just tank baby” — but two Hail Mary attempts came up short in the final seconds of the game.
The Raiders and Giants (both 2-12) have found themselves in a dogfight for the top pick in the midst of miserable seasons.
The big question now: Will either or both teams lose out through the final three games of the season?
The Raiders will face the Jaguars (3-11) next week, then face the Saints (5-9) on the road and close out the season by hosting the Chargers (8-6).
The Giants will close out their year by facing the Falcons (7-7) on the road, the Colts (6-8) at home and then the Eagles (12-2) at Lincoln Financial Field.
If the Raiders and Giants both lose out, Las Vegas would hold onto the No. 1 pick and the Giants would get the second overall pick.
Should the Giants win any of their final three games, they could find themselves dropping significantly in the draft order as five teams are 3-11.
