Rams’ Puka Nacua shares baffling concussion take in controversial livestream

More footage of Puka Nacua’s controversial live stream made the rounds Thursday, including a moment when the Rams’ star receiver offered a baffling take about concussions.

In a 13-second clip circulating on Reddit, Nacua said, “I also believe that concussions are all in your head, you just can’t think about it.”

When one of the hosts of the live stream reiterated, “So concussions aren’t real, it’s all in your head?” the 24-year-old Nacua replied, “Yeah,” before their attention turned to ACL tears.

“Those ones are pretty real, if you can’t get up and walk, that’s pretty real,” he said.

The NFL has strived to protect the health and safety of players, with the league reporting in January 2025 how it had seen a decrease in concussions, looking at protective headgear and the dynamic kickoff rule, which was implemented in 2024.

“Concussions decreased 17% compared to last season and 12% compared to the 2021-2023 season average,” the report stated.

“… Other important factors in this season’s reduction include the largest safety improvement in helmets worn on field since 2021, enforcement of safety rules, and broader efforts to continue fostering a culture of safety.”

Nacua has come under fire in the wake of the recent live stream, which was conducted by famed internet personalities Adin Ross and N3ON.

In addition to torching NFL referees on-air, Nacua was also instructed by one of the hosts to perform a touchdown celebration that featured an antisemitic trope, stating he would enact the move if he scored.

The Rams will next face the division rival Seahawks on “Thursday Night Football.”

In the lead-up to the Week 16 clash, Nacua tried to conduct the live stream from the Rams’ facility, something head coach Sean McVay swiftly shut down, according to a report.

“I thought my team communicated. I guess there was no communication. Especially then when Coach found out, he didn’t [expletive] with that,” Nacua said, per USA Today.

A 2023 fifth-round pick out of BYU, Nacua has become one of Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford’s top targets across three seasons, eclipsing 1,000 receiving yards in two out of the past three years.

He’s appeared in 13 out of 14 games this season, missing a Week 7 win against the Jaguars in London due to an ankle injury. He was also evaluated for a concussion after a frightening helmet-to-helmet hit in the team’s season-opening win versus the Texans.

The recent drama surrounding Nacua comes just days after he drew the ire of Rams teammates after live-streaming from the locker room postgame.

Kickoff Thursday is set for 8:15 p.m. ET at Lumen Field in Seattle.
