WASHINGTON — Firebrand Rep. Nancy Mace is “strongly” considering a bid for late Sen. Lindsey Graham’s now-vacant seat, two sources confirmed to The Post.
Mace (R-SC), who finished in fifth place in the South Carolina GOP gubernatorial primary last month, is keeping her options open and exploring the viability of a potential last-minute Senate campaign.
Graham (R-SC) died suddenly Saturday evening after “a brief and sudden illness,” according to his office. He was up for reelection this year and was favored to win after prevailing in the GOP primary last month.
Due to losing her primary, Mace is set to depart the House next January.
The congresswoman — who has a history of making wild accusations and statements — ran against Graham in his 2014 GOP primary for reelection, but finished in fifth place.
Afterward, she ran for South Carolina’s state House and then for Congress in 2020.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
