After the explosive season 15 finale of The Real Housewives of New York City, casting changes may be coming.
A source exclusively told Us Weekly that RHONY producers are casting for “potential new ladies” before making the decision of “who is [coming] back and who isn’t.”
“It depends on who they find,” the insider shared. “It’s unclear on how many cast members they are looking for — and who may stay or who may go. Producers are always putting feelers out to see if they can find anyone new.”
The season 15 cast included Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, Brynn Whitfield and Racquel Chevremont.
Before season 15 even wrapped in January, RHONY producers already appeared to be looking for new cast members, as fans noticed Shed Casting posted a call on social media. (Shed Media is known for its work with some of Bravo’s biggest shows, including RHONY and The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.)
“It’s that time…🍎Come and get your apple,” the account wrote via Instagram at the time. In a comment, Shed Casting noted that they were looking for residents in Brooklyn and Manhattan who have an “organic connection to someone on the cast.”
During the season 15 finale of RHONY, fans watched the cast end their Puerto Rico vacation with a massive fight between Brynn, 39, and Ubah, 41.
Brynn was upset that Ubah accused her of sleeping with someone to get hired on the Bravo show, especially after revealing to Ubah that she had been sexually assaulted. Ubah denied knowing about Brynn’s experience, leaving the cast to separate both parties on their last night of vacation.
While Brynn and Ubah seemed to patch things up on the two-part reunion, several cast members have revealed they haven’t had any contact with Brynn since the reunion.
On a January episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Jenna, 56, noted that she hadn’t talked to Brynn at all. While she acknowledged Brynn has a tendency to stretch the truth, she felt like Brynn “went too far” this time.
“There had been things along the way with Brynn that have made me unclear about her intentions and some of the things that have been said. But I also know that she’s someone that embellishes and so I have chalked it up that many times,” Jenna said. “And I have tenderness around that. … But I think at some point it kind of went too far.”
While there aren’t any updates on whether Brynn will return for another season, Erin, 37, thinks the show “could use some new blood.”
“I’m kind of excited to see. I mean, I have some friends that I hope maybe will join, and I don’t know,” she told Us on Monday, March 3.
