Cameron Young got into the clubhouse early, waiting and hoping that that he’d be the last man standing at the British Open.
It came down to the final shot, but the Westchester native fell just shot as Ryan Fox of New Zealand birdied 18 to finish 10-under and capture the Claret Jug for his first career major.
Fox, who had never recorded a top-10 finish at a major, shot 2-under 68 in the final round.
Young carded a 6-under 64 to finish the tournament at 9-under.
Sam Burns, who entered the day with the lead at 10-under, shot 2-over and finished in third place.
Scottie Scheffler shot 7-under and finished in a tie for fourth.
