Ryan Reynolds’ rep has addressed the discourse regarding his unsealed text messages in wife Blake Lively’s ongoing legal battle against Justin Baldoni.

“Yes, Ryan got involved — what husband wouldn’t support his wife and the mother of his children?” a rep for Reynolds, 49, said in a statement to Us Weekly on Tuesday, January 27. “He saw his wife fighting daily to stand up against sexual harassment in a private and respectful way, only to face retaliation for doing so.”

The statement continued, “If anything, Ryan feels like he wasn’t angry enough. He passionately believes in and will stand up for the basic right to a safe workplace free of harassment and retaliation for his wife and others. Then, now and always.”

Puck News was first to report. Us has reached out to Baldoni for comment.

Reynolds’ comments come one week after documents in Lively’s lawsuit against Baldoni, 42, were unsealed, revealing private text messages and emails sent by Reynolds, Lively, 38, Baldoni and more in regards to the case.

In one instance, Reynolds allegedly reached out to Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso, for help during the height of Lively’s tension with Baldoni while filming It Ends With Us. The Deadpool star referred to Baldoni as a “malignantly vein, sociopathic FAUXminist” and asked the couple if they would consider watching Lively’s version of the movie, which is an adaptation of the Colleen Hoover best-selling novel of the same name.

“No worries either way. We’d LOVE to get your well earned pov,” Reynolds wrote in an alleged May 2024 group chat with Damon and Barroso. “And if your girls want to see it on the big screen at B’s family and friends screening Saturday at 6pm, they’re obviously most welcome!” (Damon and Barroso share three daughters: Isabella, 19, Gia, 16, and Stella, 15.)

Reynolds also made a quip at Lively and Baldoni’s on-set feud.

“One day, we’ll make a movie about the movie. And we can’t wait to tell you all about it,” he continued. “The stories are already finding their place in the pantheon of legendary Hollywood Insanity.”

Lively, for her part, chimed in to share her alleged experience working with Baldoni.

“This movie nearly killed me,” she wrote in the apparent messages. “The director/costar/producer/financier/head of the studio (yes all one person) had zero experience, but the good news is he also has no taste and an enormous ego, but only because he’s in a cult and believes he’s our century’s prophet. I wish even one of these things was hyperbole.”

Reynolds went on to throw shade at Baldoni in a letter to Hoover, joking that she was under the weather because her body was purging her experience with Baldoni.

“Although it might be your body ridding itself of any residual Baldoni,” Reynolds quipped. “I’d rather be puking in a gulag than hijacking performative feminism while practicing personal growth catch phrases in the mirror.”

After the documents were unsealed, Lively’s legal team addressed the new evidence.

“As we head to trial, only Ms. Lively’s claims against the defendants remain. The Court dismissed Wayfarer’s retaliatory countersuit in its entirety last June. The newly unsealed evidence contains never-before seen testimony, messages, and evidence from numerous eyewitnesses backing the claims in Ms. Lively’s lawsuit,” the statement read. “The evidence includes Ms. Lively’s own testimony describing the harassment she faced, as well as new evidence from numerous women describing their own disturbing experiences. The newly unsealed evidence shows the concerns of Ms. Lively and others were documented in real-time as early as Spring 2023, and Wayfarer understood them as ‘sexual harassment’ concerns. The evidence also documents how Wayfarer refused to investigate, but instead attempted to ‘bury’ Ms. Lively and others who spoke up through retaliation.”

Baldoni’s legal team also released a statement, “As stated all along, and reflected in our clients motions, as well as in messages from Sony discussing Ms. Lively’s behaviors, the evidence does not support the claims as a matter of law. A simple read of the newly released message exchanges make the truth abundantly clear. We remain confident in the legal process and clearing the names of all the Justin Baldoni parties.”

Lively and Baldoni’s legal drama began in December 2024 when the actress accused her It Ends With Us costar of sexual harassment and orchestrating an alleged smear campaign against her. Baldoni has vehemently denied the allegations.

Following Lively’s legal action, Baldoni countersued his costar and Reynolds. Baldoni’s lawsuit was dismissed in June 2025. Lively’s case remains ongoing and is scheduled for trial in May, but after the lawsuit’s documents were unsealed earlier this month, Baldoni’s lawyers appeared in court requesting for Lively’s case to be dismissed, per NBC News. Judge Lewis Liman will determine if the case will move forward.
