JACKSON COUNTY, MI – Three women are competing in the 11th annual Miss Jackson Crossroads Scholarship Pageant.

Alexyn Dubois, Payton Perry-Radcliffe and Leesa Ross are contestants in the the pageant at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27 at Western High School, 1400 S. Dearing Road, Co-Executive Director for Miss Jackson Crossroads Traci Royer-Spring said.

Tickets are cash only, and an ATM is located in the lobby. Tickets cost $20 each, or $10 for children 10 and under, she said.

All three women live, work or attend school in Jackson County. Contestants aren’t just competing for the crown, but for a scholarship, she said.

The contestants are:

Alexyn Dubois

Age: 17

Hometown: Horton

School: Senior at Hanover-Horton High School, and is in Jackson College’s Early College program. Has committed to play softball at Spring Arbor University in 2025.

Talent: Acrobatic Dance

Interesting Facts: NSA Softball Little League World Series Champion, afraid of mascots and tore several ligaments/tendons in her ankle freshman year.

Payton Perry-Radcliffe

Age: 23

Hometown: La Salle

School: Attending Jackson College to become a Registered Nurse

Social Impact Initiative: H.E.R.O. Help Encourage Representation Opportunities

Talent: Singing to “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien” by Edith Piaf

Interesting Facts: Bilingual in French and English, appeared on national news in two different countries, became a dental assistant and graduated high school before she could drive a car, performed in 20+ musicals and plays, traveled to nine different countries, taller than the average man, current vinyl collection is 19 records strong and plans on traveling to every continent at least once.

Leesa Ross

Age: 23

Hometown: Jackson

School: Works full time at True Community Credit Union and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business from Jackson College

Social Impact Initiative: Advance The Arts

Talent: Singing

Interesting Facts: Ross owns an all-natural lip-gloss business, she mentors young women and help instill live skills through a program called, “Creating Sparks,” and she serves on the DEIB committee through her job to help make work-life balance manageable for all employees there.

The contestants will be scored on a private interview, onstage conversation, talent, evening gown and health and fitness.

The winner will be awarded $1,000 in cash scholarships to the college or high education program of their choice. No scholarship will be awarded to the runner-up, since there are only three candidates, Royer-Spring said.

This year, Spring Arbor University will also award a $10,000 scholarship to the winner, if they choose to attend the university. Jackson College will also award $500 toward tuition, if the winner chooses to attend Jackson College, she said.

Those participating in the Miss Jackson Crossroads’ Teen Scholarship Competition during Sunday’s event include Elyse Guerra, Michaela Hamilton, Gracyn Kennedy, Maggie-Mae Nixon, Kaelyn Maniaci, Serenity Perkins, Marilyn Powell, Olivia Presley, Natalie Schmidt and Alaina Weyrowske.

The Miss Jackson Crossroads Pageant is affiliated with the Miss Michigan Pageant and Miss America Organization. The new titleholders will go on to compete to become Miss Michigan in June 2025.
