Selena Gomez and now-fiancé Benny Blanco made one of their first joint appearances at a party hosted by her BFF Taylor Swift.
“It was actually really funny,” Gomez, 32, recalled on the Wednesday, March 19, episode of Spotify’s Countdown To series. “As a couple, we went to Taylor’s party after some award show. I don’t know, it was kind of cute, but I was mortified.”
She added, “Apparently, cool people don’t show up to parties on time.”
Blanco, 37, chimed in to reveal that he and Gomez are both pretty punctual in their daily lives.
“We’re the first people at every single party when I go with you,” he teased. “You, like, show up when my mother shows up to a party. [But,] I thought you were going to talk about that nobody knew we were dating and we were hiding the fact that we were dating, so we, like, didn’t even touch each other or really look at each other.”
Gomez confirmed the pair’s romance in December 2023, noting via Instagram that she had been seeing the music producer for six months.
“It wasn’t secret, we just kept it in privacy,” Gomez recalled on Wednesday, adding they quickly started connecting. “I thought you were so fun.”
Blanco also felt an instant pull to the Only Murders in the Building star.
“I knew right after we kissed [for the first time that] I was like, ‘Oh, wow, I’m probably going to marry this person,’” he recalled on Wednesday. “Well, I didn’t say marry, but I was like, ‘I’m probably going to have a baby with this person.’”
Gomez proclaimed that Blanco’s inner monologue was “so cute” and “so sweet.”
“Well, I guess, we’ll release this album and let the world hear our little baby,” Gomez teased, referring to their upcoming joint LP, I Said I Loved You First. “And, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, babe. I do.”
Gomez and Blanco, who got engaged in December 2024, are set to release I Said I Loved You First on Friday, March 21.
“More so than anything else, the best part about it was just making something that I love with the person I love,” Blanco gushed. “I was nervous because I didn’t want it to affect our relationship. … Obviously, I’ve worked with you so many other times, but it just flowed so quickly and easily.”
According to Blanco, the songs on I Said I Loved You First are “the best music [they] could have made together” and brought them even closer as a couple.
