Dozens of foster children were reunited Saturday for a special early holiday gathering during “Thanksgiving at the Ranch,” an annual event hosted by St. Jude’s Ranch for Children.

The celebration brought together siblings who had been separated while living in different foster care placements.

Organizers say the goal is to give children the chance to reconnect, share traditions, and experience a sense of family in the lead-up to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Food Network chef Vic Vegas returned this year to guide the group through preparing a classic Thanksgiving meal.

Children and teens worked in rotating groups, learning how to make dishes, including a homemade apple pie, while spending time with their brothers and sisters.

The event ran from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and included several activity stations beyond the kitchen.

Young participants spent portions of the day playing games, creating arts and crafts, making gratitude jars, and taking part in a “Sibling Showdown” trivia challenge.

Staff at St. Jude’s Ranch say many of the children in the organization’s Sibling Preservation Program aren’t able to spend Thanksgiving Day together due to placement situations, making today’s celebration especially meaningful.

The event wrapped up with a shared Thanksgiving dinner prepared with the help of each sibling group.

“Thanksgiving at the Ranch” was held on the St. Jude’s Ranch for Children campus on St. Jude Street in Boulder City.
