INGLEWOOD, Calif. – It’s time for Jameis Winston to show if he’s worth that new extension.
If Jaxson Dart is going to be sidelined for two to four weeks – the typical recovery timeline experts associate with what the Giants fear is a sprained MCL – then there are worse times for it to happen than against the softest part of the schedule.
Winston could lead the Giants (1-1) to victories against the Titans, Cardinals, Commanders (on the road) and Saints if he plays as well as he did in last season’s overtime loss to the Lions (366 yards, two passing touchdowns and a receiving touchdown).
Or the Giants could lose all those games and say goodbye to their season if Winston plays like he did off the bench (11 of 27 for 111 yards) in Monday’s 28-6 loss to the Rams.
