Next week’s 154th Silver Spurs Rodeo marks the triumphant return of a familiar rodeo queen.
Lifelong St. Cloud resident Lacie Stark, 25, earned the title of this year’s Miss Rodeo Florida 2025, and will be in attendance at the Silver Spurs Arena.
It’s a comfortable place for Stark, who was Miss Silver Spurs in 2017 and Miss Teen Silver Spurs in 2016. But, her family’s lineage with the rodeo goes farther back than that. Her grandparents, Norman and Lottie West, were the Coca-Cola Cowboy and the Woman of Distinction in 2014, and she’s been around it all her life. She’s ridden in the Quadrille, and is a third-generation member of the Silver Spurs Riding Club.
Even though, before this year, 2017 was her last year as a rodeo queen, she has remained around her hometown rodeo.
“I’ve always loved teaching and working with the contestants,” she said. “From coaching, I knew what would go into (entering the pageant). I just put it in God’s hands.
Contestants are judged on appearance, personality, modeling, speech, a personal interview and impromptu questions. The pageant was in October, and her coronation was Jan. 12. Stark, who professionally has developed quite the clientele as a hairstylist, has told her clients her schedule will be quite fluid this year.
“We travel to all of the pro rodeos in Florida, there’s 20 of them,” she said, fresh off a trip to Homestead, south of Miami. “I’ll also be traveling to some out-of-state events.”
One of those events—a big one—will be the Miss Rodeo America in Las Vegas in December.
“I’m excited for that,” she said.
As Miss Florida Rodeo, she’s active in telling the girls and ladies of rodeo who follow her that you’ve got to be comfortable in your own skin—and boots.
“Be uniquely you,” she says.
