MARQUETTE– Three free programs are on tap again for the younger set in Marquette for Halloween night. All three programs set for tomorrow night are sponsored or co-sponsored by the Marquette Recreation Department and are being provided free of charge in order to give youngsters “something to do” and “somewhere to go” without having them become involved in pranks. Since the city recreation department has been sponsoring the Halloween programs there has been practically no pranks of any sort in Marquette on this observance, which not too many years ago was one of the busiest for city police. Homeowners still will have to be prepared, however, for the usual “tricks or treats” request of the younger people. In most cases, though, the home calls are made from dusk to early evening. This not only makes it easier on the homeowners, it was pointed out, but also lessens the danger of an accident, since some youngsters crossing streets in costumes are difficult for drivers to see. James C. Engle, superintendent of the parks and recreation department, said there’ll be the usual free skating at the Palestra tomorrow evening, a dance at the Waterfront and free movies in the Marquette Junior High School Auditorium. Supervision will be provided by the parks and recreation department employees.
