Another long summer in New York has passed, and the Rangers return as a team that’s been noticeably tweaked in hopes of reestablishing the club as a contender.
The Blueshirts have more roster questions going into training camp than in recent years. Multiple players are in the mix for multiple positions, and those spots will be filled based largely on performance over the next week and a half or so.
Waiver eligibility is sure to come into play in certain instances.
Between the emergence of internal young talent last season and the handful of offseason additions, however, there should be some healthy roster competition. For a team coming off its second season failing to make the playoffs, this is a welcome development.
