Even if you regularly shampoo and condition your hair, the odds are your scalp needs a little extra TLC beyond your everyday haircare products. This is especially true if you frequently hit the gym or take part in activities where sweat is sitting on your hair for more than 24 hours. The scalp can quickly become clogged with sebum and product buildup, making it important to incorporate an exfoliating treatment.

After hitting my weekly hot yoga classes, I’ve noticed my scalp has become extremely dry and flaky this winter, and my everyday shampoo just isn’t cutting it. I recently discovered the Anablue Scalp Cleanser, and let me just say this $25 treatment has invigorated my hair while giving it the deep exfoliating treatment it was craving. Better yet, Anablue is a Hailey Bieber and Bella Hadid-loved haircare brand, so I knew I was in for a real treat before trying it.

This gentle yet effective formula includes pink Himalayan sea salt, Moroccan argan oil, orange peel oil and a slew of other haircare heroes. The star ingredient is the mineral-rich sea salt that exfoliates the scalp, removing sebum buildup and impurities.

I massage a quarter-sized amount on my scalp once per week in place of shampoo and let it sit for one to two minutes. Make sure to condition the rest of your hair like normal for silky smooth strands. The fragrance is reminiscent of what luxury hotels smell like!

In one month since using this scalp cleanser, my curly hair is significantly less flaky, dry and overall feels invigorated thanks to the nourishing ingredients. Everyone’s scalp could use a deep (but gentle) exfoliation session, and this is my new holy grail product for the job.

As one five-star reviewer puts it, “After the first wash, I already had less itchiness and my hair felt so soft. I’ve been using this once a week for about a month now with a combination of a scalp moisturizer (I live in a very dry climate), and for the first time in years, I finally don’t feel self conscious about my dandruff. Not saying it will work for everyone, but I would definitely recommend giving it a try.”
