Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of February 3-7 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless.
Top 10 Hits and Misses
10. HIT: Belle and EJ on the Friday, February 7 episode (DAYS). Belle (Martha Madison) challenged EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) on the sudden evidence labeling Jada a corrupt cop. Yet they still hooked up. They weren’t just hot. They were adorable, especially when EJ pretended Sami (Alison Sweeney) had caught them in bed.
9. MISS: Drew going Navy Seal to hook up with Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) on Quartermaine property (GH). Drew (Cameron Mathison) will take every chance he can to play the hero and push this whole Romeo and Juliet schtick they think they have going. There were boundaries, and he crossed them. They could have gotten together anywhere else.

8. MISS: Nate should have known Holden was fake (Y&R). How did Nate (Sean Dominic) not know what Damian (Jermaine Rivers) looked like? Did Amy (Valarie Pettiford) never show him a photo? Did Denise (Telma Hopkins), the private detective, never provide him with a dossier? How about an internet search? Nothing?
7. HIT: Finn rages at Poppy (B&B). Finn (Tanner Novlan) is Luna’s father (more on that later). He proved it with a couple of DNA tests. Yet Poppy (Romy Park) just kept lying. While it’s understandable that she doesn’t want to face her sister’s wrath, you have to know when the jig is up at some point. Just tell the truth! And so Finn raging at Poppy was justified.
6. HIT: Jordan firms up a plan to get Sidwell (GH). First, Jordan (Tanisha Harper) was actually on the show a few times this week, which was greatly appreciated. Second, a storyline started to materialize that involved her going after Sidwell (Carlo Rota). Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) knows about it, and Anna (Finola Hughes) does too. We’re here for it. How cute was it when Isaiah told her that if she’s going undercover, he isn’t staying away from her? Their relationship is going undercover, too.
5. HIT: Phyllis stands up for her and Daniel (Y&R). When Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) told Billy (Jason Thompson) that if he’s using his new venture to attack Newman Media, she’s out. And she meant it.

4. MISS: The Body & Soul stalker story wrapped up in one day (DAYS). After the poisoned cupcakes, the fall down the elevator shaft, and the tainted scripts, Abe (James Reynolds) confronted the culprit, Nurse Whitley (Kim Coles). In one episode, she told the entire story of why she did what she did, and then it was over. Seemed like things could have taken a little longer to wind down.
3. HIT: Johnny and Chanel (Raven Bowens) reunite (DAYS). While we are still doing our best to unhear what Johnny (Carson Boatman) called his wife when he thought she cheated, we’re glad that Johnny and Chanel’s marriage wasn’t destroyed. In fact, they reunited, and we finally felt that connection between them again. That insult will always be in the back of our minds, though.

2. MISS: Finn is Luna’s father (B&B). Don’t get us wrong. We love that Finn is getting more to do than simply listening to Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) tell him how happy she is that her parents have reunited or how she’s getting payback against Hope (Annika Noelle) and Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor). However, this story should have been told a while ago. It was a little jarring when it suddenly came back to the forefront. And why Finn? Now he has a psycho mom and a disturbed daughter!
1. HIT: A Nina and Carly team-up (GH). If anybody can figure out how to deal with the Drew problem, it’s Wiley (Viron Weaver) and Amelia’s (Sequoia & Serenity Mork Macko) grandmothers, Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Carly (Laura Wright). While they’re sworn enemies, it’ll be fun to see them work together if it goes that way. One thing that bothered us was Nina’s apology to Carly. It seems to us that apologies could have gone both ways. This hasn’t been a one-sided war.
Honorable Mentions
DAYS
HIT: Kristen sees her mother at Aremid. Didn’t expect Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) to face her mom so soon. Love it when we’re surprised.
MISS: Two characters are being held captive simultaneously. Having Rafe (Galen Gering) and Ava (Tamara Braun) tied up to chairs is overkill.
MISS: Jada’s humiliation at the wedding. Nope, knowing about Jada’s (Elia Cantu) first disastrous marriage to someone with dissociative identity disorder, it’s sad that she almost married her husband’s doppelganger. But EJ faked the corrupt evidence, and now she’s practically out of her job. Jada’s strong. We know she can handle this. But it’s sad that she has to.
HIT: Julie’s change of heart towards Cat and therapy with Marlena. Julie’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) soul-searching yielded results. She didn’t say she forgave Cat (AnnaLynne McCord), but she is leaving it up to Chad (Billy Flynn) whether or not he wants a friendship with her. And that’s cool.
B&B
MISS: Daphne Rose (Murielle Hilaire) attempts to seduce Carter. Is it wrong that we want Carter to stay strong and fend off any of Daphne Rose’s advances? While we still want the Forresters back in charge at Forrester Creations, we don’t want this part of Steffy’s plan to succeed.
HIT: Luna is Sheila’s granddaughter. We know what we said in the top ten. However, we can’t help but think of the intriguing possibilities of a Luna and Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) team-up.
MISS: There’s no viable story to explain Luna’s absence (B&B). Both Poppy and Finn visited the prison to see Luna (Lisa Yamada). Obviously, she wasn’t there. The warden or whatever prison representative who talked to them could only say Luna was still in the system, but she wasn’t there. Shouldn’t Bill (Don Diamont) have arranged for a more solid response for these scenarios? It was odd.

GH
MISS: Lois knows Gio is Brook Lynn and Dante’s baby. The way this story unfolded had slightly odd pacing, but in the last week, it became clear that Lois (Rena Sofer) knew the identity of Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Dante’s (Dominic Zamprogna) child. Not sure how we feel about that. He grew up right there in Bensonhurst. Will Brook Lynn appreciate that or be mad as hell at her mother once she finds out?
MISS: An Austin Gatlin-Holt reference. Two questions. Why did it take so long for the show to get back to Austin Gatlin-Holt (ex-Roger Howarth)? And will Port Charles finally find out that the doctor is dead?
HIT and MISS: Carly puts Drew on blast at Metro Court. This confrontation is a hit because Drew’s dirty laundry was put on blast. However, it was a miss when he put Sasha’s (Sofia Mattsson) dirty laundry on blast. He didn’t know if Jason (Steve Burton) being Sasha’s baby daddy was true. Drew went for the jugular once again, which left us cold.
JURY’s Out: New Brennan. We’re going to give this sudden development some time to process. Charles Mesure was perfect as Jack Brennan. However, as much as we adore Chris McKenna, going from someone with a dashing accent to an actor who doesn’t have one made the character change feel super abrupt.
Y&R
HIT: The Thursday cliffhanger with Amy seeing Holden for the first time. It was fun when Nate surprised Holden like that. It was the guy’s worst-case scenario.
MISS: Why do we need an Abbott Manse refresher now? We need a little more time since we just got the Newman Ranch reconstruction.
MISS: Billy used the P-word. Billy (Jason Thompson) was on a roll this week. He was all hyped up about Abbott Communications and how his new company was going to be fresh and innovative. He had great ideas, and he was fully funded, and his company was going to be fire. And then he said the dreaded word: Podcast. And we were triggered.
