Travis Kelce shared a special thank you to Adam Sandler for officiating his and Taylor Swift’s wedding on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
During the Season 5 premiere of the “New Heights” podcast the Chiefs tight end pulled back the curtain on the actor’s role in “the biggest night in both of our lives.”
“I can’t say thank you to everyone without giving a special thank you to the Adam Sandler. He’s been just the best f–king person on this planet,” Kelce, who made a cameo in Sandler’s “Happy Gilmore 2” sequel on Netflix, said.
“For him to he up to getting ordained in the state of New York to marry me and Taylor. And the way he did it, in the very Sand man style and giving us more than we could have ever imaged in that moment knowing it was the biggest night of both of our lives.”
Kelce went on to thank MSG for pulling out all the stops for the three-time Super Bowl champ and Swift, a 14-time Grammy winner, to have an ultra-private wedding.
“The night was insane. It’s a night I will never forget,” he said. “Me and Taylor are so thankful for everybody that showed up from the vows to just seeing everyone to how much fun we had throughout the entire evening and hearing that kind of be relayed through everyone’s stories from the night. It was just so magical man and I wish it could have lasted longer than it did. It felt like it happened in the blink of an eye.
“Thank you to everyone at MSG that allowed us to do this. We wanted to do it somewhere where we could have a very intimate and genuine setting without a lot of distractions. We needed it to be a private feel and MSG went above and beyond to give us that and I can’t thank everybody enough that showed up but also helped put the show on. It was a very magical night.”
Jason Kelce chimed in, “They kicked us out.”
“Once the drinks stopped everyone kind of just starts to mosey out,” Travis said.
The retired Eagles center, who was his brother’s best man, explained the one thing he particularly loved about their wedding.
“The ceremony was beautiful. Adam killed it. Both you and Tay were incredible in your vows,” Jason said. “The thing I really liked about this wedding in particular and the way you structured it — after all that was done, there wasn’t the sit down formal stuff, there wasn’t a bunch of the speeches.
“It was just time to have party and have fun. This is what made it so fun for me to be there. You’re seeing all of these A-list celebrities. I saw Brad Pitt hugging Conan O’Brien. I saw Paul McCartney.”
