Former President Trump has won the state of Iowa, according to a Decision Desk HQ projection.

Trump was projected as the winner days after a poll found him trailing Vice President Harris by 3 points. The poll was conducted by J. Ann Selzer, a respected pollster known for her accuracy. However, many saw her poll on Saturday as being an outlier.

Still, the Selzer poll did have observers in both parties wondering if she had discovered signs of a big gender gap that could help Harris in other swing states.

Iowa carries six Electoral College votes. Trump has handily won the Hawkeye State all three times he has been on the ballot, after former President Obama carried Iowa in both 2008 and 2012.

Trump dominated the Iowa GOP caucuses earlier this year, an early sign of his strength with Republican voters.
