Tyler O’Neill is leaving Boston but staying in the American League East.
The outfielder is heading south to Baltimore to join the Orioles on a three-year, $49.5 million contract, The Post’s Jon Heyman reported Saturday.
The deal does include an opt-out after the first season.
After two underwhelming seasons in 2022 and 2023 to close out his Cardinals tenure, O’Neill found his power stroke in a big way after a trade to the Red Sox last season.
The slugger crushed 31 homers with a .511 slugging percentage in just 113 games as he missed time with a concussion, knee inflammation and leg infection.
Over seven seasons in the big leagues, O’Neill has hit .246/.322/.469 with 109 home runs an 278 RBIs.
He’s particularly mashed lefties with a career 133 OPS+ against southpaws.
In good news for a right-handed hitter like O’Neill, the Orioles announced earlier this offseason that the team plans to move their left-field wall back closer to the ballpark’s original dimensions in 2025 after the team moved the fence deeper and higher in 2022.
O’Neill, a two-time Gold Glove winner, has the ability to play all three outfield positions, but he played just the corners for Boston.
