The only Central Jersey spot to get Chinese soup dumplings from Ugly Dumpling − an upscale chain specializing in the street food − has long been Edison, the Asian culinary mecca of Central Jersey.
But now, those craving a taste of Shanghai will be able to find it in Linden, as the chain recently opened its third New Jersey restaurant at 661 W. Edgar Road, which was formerly the Dragonfly Restaurant & Bar.
The Linden location will be the first Ugly Dumpling with a happy hour menu with signature cocktail specials, appetizers, dim sum promotions, buy-one-get-one beer and seltzer specials and more.

Ugly Dumpling’s signature dish is xiao long bao, a Chinese dumpling hailing from Shanghai that is filled with soup broth.
The menu also includes dim sum, wontons, noodles and wok dishes with modern spins, as well as traditional Shanghai appetizers and greens. Teas, lattes and sweet xiao long bao are also available.
Ugly Dumpling will celebrate its recent opening on Feb. 5 with promotions and giveaways. The first 88 customers will receive $8 gift cards for a purchases of $45 or more, and all other customers will receive gift cards for free bubble tea with $10 purchases.
Plus, Feb. 5 customers will be entered to win $25-$100 gift cards.
Grand opening festivities will begin at 1 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Derek Armstead.

“Linden has become a culinary destination, offering a diverse range of cuisines,” Armstead said.
The festivities will include Toms River Brewing beer including an ale brewed in collaboration with Ugly Dumpling, and tequila and spicy ginger margaritas from Corazón. Z100 will broadcast live between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m.
The Linden Ugly Dumpling restaurant is the third in New Jersey. The chain plans to open five more restaurants in the state by summer.
