Valerie Bertinelli is embracing her body.
The Food Network alum, 64, posted a mirror selfie on Instagram while opening up about the acceptance she felt for her body despite the tough things it has been through over the past year.
In the photo, Bertinelli could be seen in a black two-piece snapping a photo of herself makeup-free, with her hair down and holding a box of hair color dye up to the camera. She appeared to be in front of a sink inside a bathroom with her glasses folded on the counter.
“At some point I will talk about the madness my body has been through this year,” she captioned the photo. “But right now every lump, bump, wrinkle and saggy part of me just feels acceptance and simple appreciation to be standing in front of a mirror in a hotel bathroom in downtown Manhattan ready to color my roots late on a Monday night.”
This post comes a few days after she revealed a wound that she recently sustained from a fall on her Instagram Stories. In the snap, she showed a close up of her bandaged knee as she shot the camera a funny face.
“I continue to have the knees of a 9 year old because I fall far too often than what is comfortable for someone my actual age,” Bertinelli wrote on her Instagram at the time.

However, that wasn’t the only recent injury The Drew Barrymore Show correspondent has sustained. Bertinelli shared in October that she gashed her arm while working on a “top-secret project” after tripping “over the corner of a stage” and falling down in front of the crew and audience.
She revealed the fresh scar in a mirror selfie taken with her camera phone, which showed the torn skin extended from just below her wrist to above her elbow.
Alongside the photo, she wrote, “I would ask for hazard pay, but it was my own damn fault. 🥴.” She added that the Bertinelli was mostly “because I’m a klutz.”
Bertinelli — who recently split from writer Mike Goodnough — has been candid in the past about not just her physical ailments, but her mental and emotional ones too. On Nov. 17, she also revealed in a “scary” and “vulnerable” Instagram post that she had experienced an anxiety attack.
Alongside a video of her hand shaking, the star wrote, “I’ve sat on this post for a day because it’s incredibly vulnerable and that’s always scary to share. But I’m posting because we’re all out here doing our best having a human experience and none of us want to feel like we’re alone in that. 🤍V.”
After a “deep breath,” Bertinelli recalled that she suffered a “really bad anxiety attack,” something she noted in the clip was one that she hadn’t had “in a very, very long time.” She described it saying, “a few hours ago, I was weeping uncontrollably, and my heart felt like it was pounding out of my chest. I couldn’t stop shaking.”
“Gratefully these attacks have become much more infrequent, so this one took me a little bit by surprise today. This is the after effect,” she added.
