2024 Safe at Home Half-Day Blitz

Help at Area 10 Agency on Aging’s annual Safe at Home Event on Oct. 5 between 9 a.m. and noon. This half-day blitz aims to improve home safety for our older neighbors in Monroe and Owen counties. Volunteers 18 years and up are needed for several projects, including cleaning gutters, bush trimming, replacing ramp deck boards, and building an entrance ramp. Volunteers with various skill levels are needed and will be matched with jobs within their skill sets. Volunteers must sign up by Sept. 27 to provide Area 10 enough time to match them with a project and determine which homes they can work on for this blitz. Interested volunteers who could help but have conflicts on the 5th should contact Area 10, as they could possibly coordinate another date. This opportunity is a great chance to make a positive impact on a senior neighbor! Sign up today at https://tinyurl.com/2024-safe-at-home-blitz. Questions? Contact Chris Myers at [email protected] or 812-935-2503.

Meals on Wheels delivery drivers

Bloomington Meals on Wheels needs delivery drivers. Delivery drivers volunteer 1 to 1.5 hours per month over lunchtime (11:15 a.m. to approximately 12:45 p.m.) to deliver prepared meals on an established route to Bloomington residents who are homebound and unable to prepare nutritious meals due to chronic illness, severe disability, or advanced age. Drivers must be 21 years and up, use their own insured car, and pass a background check. Younger assistants may accompany the driver on the route, making this opportunity family-friendly. Volunteers are especially needed on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Learn more and complete an application at https://tinyurl.com/meals-on-wheels-drivers. Contact Carrie McHaley at 812-822-2499 or [email protected] for questions or assistance.
