Carrie Underwood joined an American Idol hopeful who auditioned with one of the country star’s hit anthems.

Pageant coach (and former competitor in the Miss America Organization) Landry Champlin, 23, said before she kicked off her performance, “I had a dream last week, y’all, that Carrie, you sang a little bit of this with me and then you told me (I’m) going to Hollywood.”

Champlin, from Colleyville, Texas, opted to sing “Good Girl,” one of 14 tracks that appeared on Underwood’s Blown Away in 2012. That studio record also included the powerful title track, “Two Black Cadillacs,” “See You Again” and more. Underwood offered backing vocals for Champlin when she started singing. The 2005 American Idol winner and first-time judge admitted in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that she “was so worried I would mess Landry up by singing with her. You can tell she’s had a lot of on stage experience.”

“That was the coolest thing that’s ever happened to me,” Champlin said after her audition. Underwood said although it can be nerve-wracking to the panel of judges — which also includes returning judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan — when an Idol hopeful covers one of their songs, “you definitely…made it your own.”

Richie told Champlin “I was nervous for you,” but the Texas singer performed well. Bryan added that Champlin has a “big voice,” and credited her for taking on a tough song. The judges unanimously sent Champlin to Hollywood. Watch that moment here:
