ACC and Big 12 could send one team each to 2025 CFP
After a wild Week 11, the ACC and Big 12 face playoff uncertainty, with each conference possibly sending just one team to the 2025 CFP.
Following a top-25 win over BYU, Texas Tech football all but locked up the narrative of the Big 12 conference running through Lubbock.
It’s a path that the Red Raiders look to keep intact in Week 12 against UCF.
The No. 8-ranked Red Raiders and the Knights are set for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday, Nov. 15 from Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas.

Texas Tech moved up to No. 6 in the College Football Playoff rankings this past week, but with Behren Morton injured, the Red Raiders remain out of the top four despite being 9-1 on the season and having multiple wins against CFP-ranked teams. A large part of the Red Raiders’ success this season has been their top-five-ranked scoring offense and defense, which rank Nos. 4 and 3 in the country, respectively, at 42.1 points per game and 12.6 points per game.
UCF, which trails the all-time series against Texas Tech 0-1, enters Saturday’s game coming off back-to-back losses against Baylor and Houston. The Knights are 4-5 on the season in their second stint with Scott Frost in Orlando.

Prediction (Dan Rorabaugh, USA TODAY Network — Florida): Texas Tech 41, UCF 10
“No one wants to mess with the Texas Tech defense, much less a team with quarterback questions. Highlighted by edge rushers David Bailey and Romello Height and linebacker Jacob Rodriguez, the Red Raiders have the No. 3 scoring defense in the nation, allowing a scant 12.6 points per game. They have the No. 1 rush defense (73.8 yards per game). Their pass defense is “only” 37th (159.9 ypg), though Bailey leads all players with 11.5 sacks and Brice Pollock has four of the team’s 11 interceptions on the year.
“If that weren’t enough, Texas Tech also has the No. 4 offense in the country, scoring 42.1 ppg. This one could get ugly fast.“
