Another Morgan Wallen concert, another swaggy walk out.
This time, in Madison.
These entrances have become a regular tradition for the country music superstar, often backed by Lil Durk’s “Broadway girls,” a fiery track Wallen is featured on.
The crowd gets hyped. But something they don’t know: If and who Wallen is going to dab up along the way from the back-of-house to just before he hits the stage.
It’s been Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Mike Tyson, Pat McAfee, Tyrese Haliburton, Drake, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Brooks & Dunn and Moneybagg Yo, among other notable figures.
On Night 2 at Madison’s Camp Randall Stadium, it would be an embattled former Green Bay Packers legend.
Though that’s not whose jersey Wallen would later be sporting on stage.
Wallen played two shows in Madison — June 28 and June 29 — on his “I’m the Problem Tour 2025,” named after his latest studio album. Night 1 marked the first concert at the home of University of Wisconsin football since 1997.
Wallen made Wisconsin concert history in 2023 as the first artist to headline a Wisconsin stadium for two consecutive nights, at American Family Field, the kickoff for one of that year’s top-grossing North American tours.
Who walked out with Morgan Wallen in Madison on Night 2?
Former Packers quarterback Brett Favre.
Who is Morgan Wallen? Who is Brett Favre?
In their individual crafts, Wallen is a star and Favre has been one. Both have tainted legacies, too.
Wallen has skyrocketed to success — from dominating charts and tours to winning dozens of awards. But, his road has been riddled with controversy.
In 2021, a video surfaced of Wallen using a racial slur. He was subsequently dropped by his agency, his label suspended his contract for a time, he was reprimanded by awards shows, his music was pulled from many radio stations and he was called out by several country artists.
In his apology, Wallen cited being on a bender during the incident, urged fans not to defend him and said he met with “some amazing Black organizations” that “showed me grace and paired that with an offer to learn and to grow.” He later donated $500,000 to the National Museum of African American Music in Nashville.
In 2024, Wallen was met with controversy again when he was arrested for throwing a chair off a sixth-floor roof of a downtown Nashville bar, nearly hitting two police officers. He ultimately pleaded “conditionally guilty” to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, resulting in him being held for seven days in a DUI education center, being on supervised probation for two years and paying a $350 fine and court fees.
Wallen’s second studio album, “Dangerous,” spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on its way to becoming Billboard’s most successful album of the century so far. His third, “One Thing at a Time,” spent 19 weeks at No. 1, the most weeks any country album has ever logged at No. 1.
Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre walked out with Morgan Wallen on Night 2 of the country superstar’s “I’m the Problem” tour stop at Madison’s Camp Randall Stadium.
In 2024, both of those albums made the top 10 on the year-end Billboard 200 chart. He and Post Malone also teamed up for what would turn into the fourth-biggest song on the year-end Billboard Hot 100 chart: “I had Some Help.” It also earned Wallen two Grammy nominations.
After being nominated for Entertainer of the Year by the CMA Awards in 2022 and 2023, Wallen took home the top prize in 2024, though he wasn’t present to accept it.
In 2025, Wallen has been making headlines again: For the traction of his latest album, “I’m the Problem” — which is in its fifth week at No. 1 on the Billboard top 200 chart — and that abrupt “Saturday Night Live” exit.
During his latest concerts, a montage of negative headlines are displayed on the ginormous main screens for “I’m The Problem.” He appears to pour gasoline onto the stage, then pretends to ignite it, cueing pyrotechnics, which are prominent throughout his production.
Favre spent 16 of his 20-year NFL career with the Packers, becoming the first player in NFL history to win three straight MVP awards. He led Green Bay to a Super Bowl XXXI victory in 1997 following the 1996 season. The team made another Super Bowl appearance the following year, though it ended in a loss.
At the time of his final NFL retirement — more on that in a sec — in 2010, Favre had the most touchdowns in NFL history, though that record has since been passed multiple times. Favre was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016.
Enter: The drama. Favre retired as a Packer, then decided to continue playing. Green Bay traded him to the New York Jets in what ended up being a nasty divorce. Favre retired again, then joined the Minnesota Vikings, one of the Pack’s greatest rivals.
Former Jets gameday on-air host Jenn Sterger accused Favre of sending her explicit texts during his one season with the franchise in 2008. While Favre admitted to sending Sterger voicemails, the NFL found that Favre didn’t violate its workplace conduct policy. He was, however, fined $50,000 for lack of cooperation with the league’s investigation.
Dating back several years, Favre has been linked to a fraud scheme in his home state of Mississippi. According to a lawsuit, state funds totaling $77 million for needy families were used to pay for other projects, including those backed by Favre, such as a volleyball facility at his alma mater, the University of Southern Mississippi. Favre hasn’t been charged with a crime and has denied any wrongdoing.
During the contentious 2024 presidential election cycle, Favre dipped his toe into Wisconsin politics, including appearing at a rally for President Donald Trump in his former home of Green Bay.
Also in 2024, Favre revealed that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
Morgan Wallen wears Joe Thomas jersey at Camp Randall
After “Jump Around” played and the light-up bracelets fans were given upon entering the stadium flashed Badgers’ colors, Wallen reemerged for his encore in a Joe Thomas Wisconsin jersey.
Thomas, a Brookfield native and Pro Football Hall of Famer, was a great at UW and with the Cleveland Browns.
“might’ve walked out with Favre, but he knows who the Badgers football GOAT really is and wore his jersey to prove it. #72 🏈🏟️” Thomas posted on social media.
He followed up on X with: “🤣🤣j/k- @BrettFavre was my hero as a @packers fan growing up in Wisconsin; so I thought that was a pretty cool walk out!!”
By the looks of his Instagram, Thomas attended both night’s of Wallen’s Madison tour stop.
