A spokesperson for the San Francisco Fire Department confirmed to Us Weekly on January 1, 2026, that paramedics were called to the Fairmont San Francisco hotel for a “report of a medical emergency” early on New Year’s Day and ultimately pronounced Victoria dead at the scene. A spokesperson for the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office told Us on January 2, 2026, that Victoria had been “identified” as the deceased.
Victoria worked as an actress in her Oscar-winning father’s movies when she was a teenager, before going on to appear briefly in hit teen drama One Tree Hill.
The New York Post reported that Victoria had several run-ins with the law in the final months of her life, including pleading not guilty to charges of obstructing a peace officer and possession of a narcotic controlled substance, among other accusations, in April 2025.

Victoria Jones was acclaimed actor Tommy Lee Jones’ youngest child with his ex-wife Kimberlea Cloughley. Her older brother, Austin Leonard Jones, was born on November 9, 1982, and Victoria arrived on September 3, 1991. (Tommy and Cloughley were married from 1981 to 1996. He was previously with his first wife, Katherine Lardner, from 1971 to 1978 and has been married to his third wife, Dawn Laurel, since 2001.)
Speaking to The New Yorker in 2008, Tommy offered some insight on Victoria’s childhood. The actor built a state-of-the-art equestrian facility across 74 acres near Buenos Aires since Victoria and Austin shared his love of equestrian sports.
“We’ve built a world-class polo field and a practice field there, so my team and the kids’ teams can play,” he explained. “My daughter has been playing polo since she was 6, and now she’s entirely fearless. She sometimes plays six chukkers.”

More recently, Victoria pleaded not guilty to charges of obstructing a peace officer, using or being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a narcotic controlled substance in Napa Valley, California, in April 2025.
Two months later, Victoria once again entered a not guilty plea to charges of domestic battery and domestic violence/elder abuse in Napa Valley in June 2025. Both California cases were reportedly ongoing at the time of her death.
When Did Victoria Jones Die?
A spokesperson for the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) confirmed to Us Weekly on January 1, 2026, that it was called to the luxury Fairmont San Francisco hotel at 2:52 a.m. PT for “a report of a medical emergency.”
“Upon arrival, paramedics from the fire department performed an assessment. The person was declared deceased,” the SFFD statement to Us read. “SFPD and the medical examiner’s office were called to the scene. Scene turned over to SFPD and SF Medical Examiners.”
TMZ reported that after the SFFD arrived at around 3:14 a.m. PT. A medical examiner arrived on the scene shortly thereafter to conduct a formal investigation.
A representative of the San Francisco Chief Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to Us on January 2, 2006, that Victoria had been identified as the deceased.
“The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) has identified the decedent as Victoria Jones, 34,” the office said. “Her legal next of kin have been notified. The OCME has no additional information to share or comment at this time.”
How Did Victoria Jones Die?
An investigation into Victoria Jones’ death remains ongoing, as of publication, though it’s suspected that she suffered an overdose. NBC Bay Area reported on January 1, 2026, that “no foul play” was suspected.
Emergency dispatch audio obtained by TMZ confirmed that police officers had received a call for a “code 3 for the overdose, color change” shortly before Victoria was found unconscious. Upon arrival at the San Francisco hotel, paramedics pronounced Victoria dead at the scene.
