Fallout has fallen out of the running for the Golden Globes, Critics Choice, Actor Awards, and all the other guilds for this winter awards cycle.
Instead, Season 2 will begin its awards campaign with next year’s Emmys, followed by the fall and winter considerations in late 2026. The reason? Amazon MGM Studios is straddling the eight episodes between the 2025 and 2026 calendars, and it wants voters to watch the entire thing before marking their ballots.

“With our weekly rollout schedule extending into February 2026, only the first three episodes would be available by the submission deadlines,” the studio said. “We believe it’s crucial for voters to experience the complete eight-episode season, which fully showcases the creative vision and craftsmanship of this production.
Fallout Season 2 premieres on Dec. 17 on Prime Video, with subsequent episodes airing every Wednesday until the Feb. 4 finale. Walton Goggins and Ella Purnell are back in their respective roles as The Ghoul and Lucy MacLean, two beings just trying to get by in a post-apocalyptic world.
The first season of the video game adaptation received 16 Emmy nominations in 2024, winning for Best Music Supervision. Its above-the-line bids were for Best Drama Series, Best Drama Actor (Goggins), and Best Drama Writing (Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner). Season 1 also nabbed a Best Stunt Ensemble bid at the Actor Awards (then known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards), and contended at various guild kudos.
Season 2 will start in the immediate wake of the Season 1 finale and split its focus between the dusty plains of the Mojave Desert and the spires of New Vegas. Expect to learn more secrets about the Vault-Tec, the corporation responsible for the bunkers that have kept humanity alive — and subjugated to the ruling classes.
In addition to Goggins and Purnell, Moisés Arias returns as Lucy’s brother, Norm; Frances Turner is back as Barb Howard, Cooper’s wife and a muckety-muck at Vault Tech; and Aaron Morten reprises his role as Lucy’s ally, Maximus.
Fallout is overseen by Westworld masterminds Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, alongside Athena Wickham. It’s based on the popular video game series by Bethesda Softworks.
