There is always something to play for. No game is meaningless.

The standings may indicate otherwise, of course, especially in the case of the Giants, who have nothing tangible to achieve in the last five games of this dismal season. Their 2025 NFL Draft positioning will rise and fall, depending on how they fare each week. The 2-10 record is indicative of how bad the product has been, and that evaluation is unlikely to change based on a few more losses here or an actual win or two there.

There are individual performances to monitor, though, especially for players who might have a place on next season’s roster or a chance to rise on the depth chart. Every player wants to finish strong, and whether or not someone falters down the stretch or battles to the finish are traits the coaching staff and front office will monitor moving forward.

There are those who know they will return — they are under contract and deserving starters. There also are those who most likely will not be back — fringe roster guys who will pass through to another team. There are those who are young enough to keep around but not established or accomplished enough to return to their same role.
