It was a perfect welcome-home gift from the Knicks to their fans.
The Knicks rolled to a dominant 126-97 win in Tuesday’s Game 5 at Madison Square Garden with a total-package night against the Hawks to take a 3-2 series lead.
Jalen Brunson put on a fourth-quarter show, scoring 17 of his 39 points to stretch the Knicks’ lead to a comfortable 27 points in a game in which they always had the upper hand — thanks to their stars being stars and their role players stepping up.
To start, the Hawks made an adjustment by putting Dyson Daniels on Karl-Anthony Towns and moving Nickeil Alexander-Walker onto Brunson.
