Devin Williams and Luke Weaver arrived to the Mets this offseason as the team’s latest significant additions who once played for the Yankees.
A pipeline has existed between The Bronx and Queens, particularly over the past few years. More often than not throughout their history, the Mets have received positive results from high-profile players they acquired who had Yankees experience.
Here, we will examine the most notable former Yankees the Mets have acquired over the years. (We are not examining former Mets acquired by the Yankees, so you won’t see the likes of Dwight Gooden, Darryl Strawberry and Carlos Beltrán referenced here.)
We’re also going to limit this to the past 40 years, partly to avoid discussing Yogi Berra’s four games played for the Mets or Dave Kingman’s eight games with the Yankees before he later returned to Queens.
