California drivers battered by soaring gas prices are finally getting a small break at the pump — but only for a few hours.
Circle K is bringing back its annual “Fuel Day” promotion Thursday, giving drivers up to 40 cents off per gallon of gas at participating company-owned locations.
The discount will be available directly at the pump from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., according to Circle K’s website.
The convenience store giant said it will also donate 10% of profits earned during the three-hour event — up to $250,000 — to the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation in observance of Memorial Day.
The nonprofit provides college scholarships and educational counseling to military children who lost a parent in the line of duty.
The temporary fuel discount comes as Californians continue paying some of the highest gas prices in the country.
The average price of a gallon of gas in California hit $6.16 on Thursday morning, according to AAA figures.
Drivers in Los Angeles County are paying even more, with average regular gasoline prices climbing to $6.24 per gallon.
