But in the eyes of Henry Baker, who served as Banks’ cornerbacks coach for three years at Maryland, this was all about the adjustment — to the expectations that follow after being picked in the first round in a market like New York City — coming to fruition, too.
The downfall of Banks, from No. 1 cornerback to a benched player whose effort was publicly called out by his position coach, has been well-documented. What Baker saw in moments “on the field was very uncharacteristic of him,” he told The Post, but he also thought the 2023 first-round pick became an example of a young cornerback adapting while, given the Giants’ lack of success, encountering adversity.
In the span of one summer worth of training camp practices and preseason games, Banks has flipped the trajectory of his Giants career.
