Former WWE star Alberto Del Rio was arrested for alleged domestic violence in Mexico, according to multiple reports.
The 48-year-old Del Rio, whose real name is Alberto Rodriguez, was reportedly detained by police in the capital of San Luis Potosí for allegedly assaulting his wife, who called 911 and filed a complaint that the former four-time world champion in WWE beat her.
Upon the Civil Guard’s arrival, Del Rio’s wife had injuries to her face and arms that led to Del Rio’s arrest, according to LAAFICION. Punishment for domestic violence could come with one to seven years in prison, according to the outlet.
His mugshot is believed to have already made its way around social media.
This is not the first time Del Rio, who was currently wrestling under the name Alberto El Patron, has been in trouble with the law.
In 2021, he was charged with sexual assault and kidnapping, only to see the case dropped when a witness went missing before the trial.
He signed with WWE in 2009, debuted on the main roster a year later, and went on to become the first person to win the Royal Rumble and the Money in the Bank ladder match in 2011. Del Rio left the company in 2014.
WWE did not renew Del Rio’s deal with AAA when it bought the famed Mexican promotion in April 2025, despite him being its reigning Mega Champion.
